About CSI
In recent years, information security threats have shifted from the original information network as the main target to critical infrastructure as the target of attacks. With the networking of industrial control systems, data connection and transmission methods have become more diversified, while information security is also facing various threats and challenges, and critical facilities are also subject to attackers, the research of information security technology is an indispensable part of the future development of the country.
With the advancement of information security technology in the country, information security related regulations must also keep pace with the times. Whether it is the United States, Europe or Japan, Korea, etc., have enacted the so-called information security law, in addition to regulating the public sector, most of them also include the key infrastructure service providers of non-public agencies. Many countries, including the U.S., have included critical infrastructure in the enactment of their information security laws, rather than focusing solely on the use of computers, and have further included critical infrastructure, industrial control systems, and medical systems. Therefore, there is an urgent need to cultivate information security personnel related to critical infrastructure information security and industrial control system security.
Therefore, in 2023, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of this program. The faculty of this program consists of full-time professors from College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In addition to the abundant teaching resources of the School of College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, this program also combines with some of the resources of NARLABS, NCHC, TTC, TWISC to provide a good learning and research environment. It is expected that more students will be attracted to participate in the research in the related fields and cultivate cross-disciplinary talents in the field of information and communication security technology in Taiwan.
